Resumen en otro Idioma | Gomphrena albiflora distributed from La Vela de Coro to the Colombian Guajira, along semiarid western coast of the country, it grows exposed to high temperatures and radiation, and dry and saline soils. The aim is to describe the anatomical structure of roots and stems of this species and identify potentially adaptive value characters. Samples of different diameter were fixed in FAA according to conventional techniques for microscopy. The apical portions of the roots show primary structure, characterized by rhizodermis with abundant hairs of different lengths and underlying parenchyma cells with relatively bulky, the vascular cylinder consists of a layer of pericycle and a diarch stele. Plagiotropic and orthotropic stems are formed. The younger portions of the stems have much trichomes and druses, whereas in the adult, it is clear they reduce, and is evident hypodermis and the early formation of cork cambium. Both in the stems and in the roots radial growth occurs by the formation of successive rings of growth. The activity of the vascular cambium “ordinary” is short lived. The anatomical structure of these organs is important for the survival of this species in its natural habitat. |
