Abstract
El presente ensayo tiene como propósito realizar un aporte al análisis sobre el papel de las regiones fronterizas subnacionales en los procesos de integración, teniendo en cuenta el marco de las transformaciones sufridas por el sistema internacional y las estrategias políticas latinoamericanas para
hacer frente a sus consecuencias. Se trata, en este sentido, de ofrecer algunos elementos de juicio para incluir el tema de la participación de las regiones en el debate sobre la relación entre integración y desarrollo; poniendo el centro de atención en las áreas de frontera situadas en el contexto del MERCOSUR.
