Abstract
El tema de discusión en este trabajo de reflexión intenta poner de
manifiesto la relación de dependencia unidireccional entre la sociedad,
el Estado y la renta petrolera en Venezuela, así como el imaginario
nacional que se re-crea desde el tercer decenio del siglo XX, a partir
de la sistematización de los factores más conspicuos que, por un lado,
dieron lugar a la modernización nacional sin la necesidad de una
sociedad moderna y que, por el otro, condujeron a un pacto social y fiscal
particular en América Latina, a razón de la propiedad estatal-nacional del
petróleo.
