La lucha antipalúdica en Venezuela y la mayor extensión territorial libre de malaria (1900-1963): un estado del arte

Resumen
Venezuela, durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, logró consolidar esfuerzos y amalgamar procesos en la lucha antimalárica, cuyo logro fue la casi total erradicación de la enfermedad en 1963 y la distinción de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud como el primer país con la mayor extensión, antes malárica, libre de la enfermedad. Consecuentemente, surge la necesidad de investigar el estado del arte de esta lucha, y analizar la situación sanitaria del país antes de 1936, las organizaciones involucradas, el conocimiento relacionado, las medicinas, el uso del dicloro difenil tricloroetano o DDT y, finalmente, el impacto de la enfermedad en el territorio nacional.
