Abstract
Andrés Bello (1781-1865), gracias a su labor de polígrafo, es quien personifica el rol de comunicador del saber ilustrado a través de la divulgación del conocimiento científico en suelo americano, en el siglo XIX. En las Obras Completas de Andrés Bello (1957),
específicamente en el tomo XX: Cosmografía y otros escritos de divulgación científica
se encuentran un conjunto de artículos que versan sobre la física. Durante su exilio en Londres publicó en La Biblioteca Americana (1823) y El Repertorio Americano
(1826) textos cuyas temáticas giran sobre el campo magnético, y la astronomía. Al
establecerse en Santiago de Chile, escribe en El Araucano (1830) títulos referentes a
la estructura del universo, las estrellas, cometas y meteoritos. Finalmente en 1848
escribe su Cosmografía, en parte elaborada a partir de los artículos divulgativos
publicados en El Araucano. El interés de este trabajo es examinar los textos arriba
señalados e identificar cómo Bello los preparó y qué fuentes usó para ello. El material que se examina está publicado en Cosmografía y otros escritos de divulgación científica, en Obras Completa de Andrés Bello, Ediciones del Ministerio de Educación, Caracas, Tomo XX, 1957.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | Andrés Bello (1781-1865), thanks to the work of polygraph, who personifies the role of communicator of knowledge illustrated through the dissemination of scientific knowledge on American soil, in the nineteenth century. In the Complete Works of Andres Bello (1957), specifically in Volume XX: Cosmografía and other popular science writings are a collection of articles dealing with physics. During his exile in London published in The American Library (1823) and The American Repertory (1826) texts whose themes revolve around the magnetic field, and astronomy. To settle in Santiago de Chile, writes in The Araucano (1830) titles concerning the structure of the universe, stars, comets and meteorites. Finally in 1848 he wrote his cosmography, partly made from the informative articles published in The Araucano. The interest of this paper is to examine the above mentioned texts and identify how Bello prepared them and what sources used for this. The material under review is published in Cosmography and other popular science writings, in Complete Works of Andres Bello, Editions the Ministry of Education, Caracas, Volume XX, 1957. |
