Abstract
En Venezuela, la novedad expresiva de los poetas parnasianos y modernistas impuso, sin proponérselo, un olvido de la tradición poética nutrida de la
geografía y el acontecer histórico venezolanos creada a comienzos del siglo XIX por Andrés Bello y los bellistas. Gonzalo Picón Febres, sobre un piso
histórico distinto, con un lenguaje acorde con su momento, con una visión intelectual proveniente del positivismo, recrea, con su poesía de la última
década del XIX, los planteamientos líricos de Bello y los bellistas: el paisaje venezolano, la problemática de la vida rural, la búsqueda del “alma nacional”. Fundó, pues, el movimiento literario conocido como el nativismo lírico.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | The unintended impact, in Venezuela, of the new, descriptive language of Parnassian and Modernist poetry was such that Venezuelan poetic tradition receded from the memory of Venezuelans. Theirs was a tradition which had been nourished by land and history, and which had been created by Andres Bello and the Bellistas at the turn of the 19 century. Grounded in a different historical perspective, using a language in harmony with its time, and invested with an intellectual vision inspired by Positivism, Picón Febres’s poetry, written during the last decade of the 19th century, recreated the lyrical foci of Andrés Bello and the Bellistas: the Venezuelan landscape, the problematic of rural life and the quest for the “national soul”. He, thus, created the literary movement known as Lyrical Nativism. |
