| es_VE |

dc.description.abstract1 | September 21st, 1980 constituted an arriving point, a finish line. It was
the definite realization of the project which 25 years before (1785)
Fray Juan Ramos de Lora had begun to fulfill by founding in Mérida
that Academic Center which he would immediately transform into a
Seminar College. His ambition was to turn it into a seminar-university
and had put all his effort into it. But that September 21st was also a
starting point prolonged to our days given the common history that
links the Seminar and the University in Mérida since its beginnings.
Summing up, to the author, this date is a milestone in the unfinished
history of Mérida as a university town, incomprehensible without the
cultural contribution of colonial Jesuit education or the legacy of Fray
Juan Ramos de Lora’s Academic Center. | es_VE |
