Mapeamento do habitat do Pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) a partir de dados de sensoriamento remoto integrados em SIG. Goiás (GO)-Brasil
Abstract
El presente estudio hace una caracterización del hábitat del mayor pez de escamas de agua dulce del mundo: el Arapaima gigas, en la región centro-oeste de Brasil, estados de Goiás (GO) y Mato Grosso (MT), mediante el uso integrado de teledetección y sistemas de información geográfica (SIG). En esta región, la antropización del paisaje intensificada en el siglo XX, ha contribuido en la sobre pesca de la especie, llevándola al borde de la extinción. La investigación identificó los elementos físicos del paisaje, así como los aspectos antrópicos que influyen directamente en la supervivencia de la especie. Para este fin se utilizaron imágenes satelitales y datos vectoriales, ambos integrados en ambiente de SIG. El resultado de la investigación fue la caracterización de los elementos biotipos y abióticos que, luego de analizados, demostraron que el hábitat del Arapaima gigas ha sufrido transformaciones que actualmente influyen en la dinámica reproductiva de esta especie.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | The proposed study is a characterization of the habitat of the world’s biggest freshwater fish: the Arapaima gigas. This study was located in the center-west region of Brazil, which includes the Goiás and Mato Grosso states. In this region, the landuse has been intensified during the twentieth century, contributing to a higher exploitation of the species, leading to an almost extinction. This research identified the elements of the physical landscape, as well as the human aspects influencing directly on the survival of the species. For this purpose, a set of remotely sensed imagery and vectorial data were integrated into a GIS database. As a final outcome, a characterization and analysis of the biotic and abiotic factors showed intensive transformations in the habitat of the Arapaima gigas, which are currently influencing the reproductive dynamic of this species in the surveyed area. |
