| dc.description.abstract | En los últimos años el incremento de infecciones por virus de papiloma ha surgido como consecuencia del desconocimiento que posee la población según refieren diversos autores. Objetivos: Establecer el nivel de conocimiento sobre la infección por el virus de papiloma humano que poseen los pacientes que acuden a una consulta de atención primaria en el Estado Carabobo. Sujetos y métodos: investigación cuantitativa, no experimental, observacional, descriptiva en una población de individuos que acudieron a una Clínica Popular en Carabobo, marzo - junio 2023. Se utilizó el cuestionario elaborado por Ortunio y cols, 2009. Resultados: la muestra evidenció una media de edad ubicada en la cuarta década de vida, procedente en su mayoría del Estado Carabobo, siendo el sexo femenino y el control médico, los más predominantes. La mayor parte de los encuestados fueron bachilleres. Así mismo, se evidencia que la mayoría de los pacientes habían iniciado actividad sexual a temprana edad y habían tenido más de una pareja sexual en el transcurso de sus vidas. La mayoría mostró conocimiento muy bueno o excelente sobre el VPH. Con respecto al uso del condón, lo consideraron medida de prevención. Conclusión: No se detectó asociación significativa entre tener conocimiento sobre VPH y el sexo, pero sí sobre éste y el nivel de instrucción en los pacientes que acudieron la consulta de atención primaria, destacando que la mayoría fueron amas de casa con una base informativa bastante amplia acerca del virus. | es_VE |

Objectives: To establish the level of knowledge about human papillomavirus infection among patients attending a primary care consultation in Carabobo State. Subjects and methods: Quantitative, non-experimental, observational, descriptive research was carried out in a population of individuals who attended a Popular Clinic in Carabobo, March - June 2023. The questionnaire developed by Ortunio et al., 2009, was used. Results: The sample showed an average age located in the fourth decade of life, mostly from Carabobo State, with female sex and medical control being the most predominant. Most of the respondents were high school graduates. Likewise, it is evident that most patients had begun sexual activity at an early age and had had more than one sexual partner throughout their lives. The majority showed very good or excellent knowledge about HPV. Regarding condom use, they considered it a preventative measure. Conclusion: No significant association was detected between knowledge about HPV and sex, but a significant association was detected between knowledge about HPV and educational level in patients attending primary care. It is noteworthy that most were homemakers with a fairly broad knowledge base about the virus. | es_VE |
