| es_VE |

dc.description.abstract1 | The mortal remains of Don Mario Briceño Iragorry
are in the National Pantheon, except for his heart,
which is in the cathedral of Trujillo, by his express
disposition. This leads to a refl ection on the reasons
why his body is in Caracas and his heart in his native
place, and to inquire about what he wanted to tell
us, his underlying message. Hence the questions:
What emotions throbbed in that heart? What made
her pulse fl utter? What did he keep at the bottom
of his feelings?
After so many readings and conversations
about his extensive work, one can venture the idea
that what Don Mario Briceño Iragorry loved most
was the possibility of a Venezuelan homeland very
aware of its identity and aware of its destiny. A
town that knew where it came from, where it was
and where it was going. But he understands that he
fi nds himself in a reality that lacks that identity and
that vision of the future. And he dedicates himself
entirely to looking for it in history, in the diff erent
factors that make up identity, in shared values or
that should be shared. | es_VE |
