dc.description.abstractLa participación de Marcel Roche (1920-2003) en el campo de los Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (ESCT) en Venezuela se inicia mucho antes de que creara en 1976 el Departamento de Estudio de la Ciencia, en el IVIC o que escribiera en 1973 Rafael Rangel: Ciencia y Política a principios de siglo. Su desempeño como Director del IVIC y luego en la Presidencia del CONICIT lo alejo de su carrera científica en las biociencias y lo acercó a las ciencias sociales. Este trabajo se centra en su pase al campo de los ESCT, y examina tanto sus contribuciones institucionales como de investigación, e identifica algunas de sus influencias en el estilo de los investigadores de los ESCT en el país.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1The participation of Marcel Roche (1920-2003) in the field of Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESCT) in Venezuela began long before he created the Department of the Study of Science in 1976, in the IVIC or that wrote in 1973 Rafael Rangel: Science and Politics at the beginning of the century. His performance as Director of the IVIC and later in the Presidency of CONICIT took him away from his scientific career in the biosciences and brought him closer to the social sciences. This paper focuses on his transition to the ESCT field, examining both his institutional and research contributions, and identifying some of his influences on the style of ESCT researchers in the countryes_VE
