| dc.description.abstract | José Manuel Briceño Guerrero, filósofo, poeta, narrador, profesor
universitario y ciudadano comprometido con su tiempo, marcó con
su pensamiento y su labor docente una indeleble huella en la cultura
regional, nacional y latinoamericana. Autor de más de treinta libros
–algunos publicados bajo el acrónimo Jonuel Brigue– e innumerable
artículos y otros escritos, vivió en la ciudad de Mérida durante más
de cincuenta años, estrechamente vinculado a la Universidad de Los
Andes. De formación universal, viajero incansable, destacó como
políglota: inglés, francés, alemán, ruso, italiano, portugués, rumano fueron algunos de los idiomas que alcanzó a dominar, pues también
se especializó en lenguas clásicas: griego, latín, hebreo. Como filósofo,
enfocó su visión del mundo desde una perspectiva americana y
venezolana, pues nunca se desvinculó de sus raíces culturales. Hoy su
obra es objeto de estudio no solo en Venezuela sino en otras latitudes. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | José Manuel Briceño Guerrero was a philosopher, poet, writer,
university professor and very remarkable citizen. With his wisdom and
teaching practices he left an indelible mark in the regional, national
and Latin-American culture. Author to more than thirty books–some
published under the acronym JonuelBrigue–an extensive number or
articles and other writings. He lived in the city of Mérida for more
than fifty years, tightly linked to the University of Los Andes. With
universal formation and as a tireless traveler, he became a highlighted
polyglot—English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Portuguese and
Rumanian were some of the languages he mastered, but he specialized
in classical languages as well—Greek, Latin and Hebrew. As a
philosopher, he focused his vision of the world from a Venezuelan and
American perspective, since he never untied himself from his cultural
roots. Today, his Works are objects of study not just in Venezuela, but
