| es_VE |

dc.description.abstract1 | The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) on the reproductive performance of crossbred cows managed under the dual purpose system (DP). A total of 385 crossbred cows (Bos indicus x Bos taurus) between 60 and 90 days postpartum were used, they were randomly assigned to two groups: group 1 (n = 197) inseminated at detected estrus and group 2 (n = 188) synchronized
with hormonal protocol and inseminated at fixed-time (FTAI). The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and confidence intervals. From all of 385 animals in the study, 51.16% were detected in estrus, resulting in a conception rate of 73.6% and a pregnancy rate of 37.65%. Cows subjected to FTAI protocols obtained a pregnancy rate of 65.96 and 9.09% were empty. With regard to reproductive efficiency, 69.87% of the cows in the study were pregnant after the first insemination and a total of 90.91% got pregnant when using reproductive biotechnologies. It was demonstrated that the use of FTAI in crossbred DP cows is an efficient strategy
to improve fertility. | es_VE |
