| dc.description.abstract | El artículo describe los trabajos y las actividades públicas de Raúl Prebisch
durante uno de los períodos políticos más conflictivos de la historia Argentina:
1930-43. Dada la tradición teórica mundial y la falta de preparación de la
economía para enfrentar la gran depresión, Prebisch logra iniciar algunos
cuestionamientos de sus principios, aunque no en su vocabulario, sino en las
medidas y políticas que propone para confrontar las grandes dificultades
generadas por una tasa decreciente de crecimiento y un desequilibrio externo
del país. Las tareas y respuestas ofrecidas a los gobiernos bajo los cuales
trabajó, no se adaptan fácilmente en ningún sentido a la imagen de un «conservador ilustrado» o políticamente reaccionario intelectual que se ha vuelto costumbre. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The article describes Raúl Prebisch´s works and public activities during one of
the most conflictive political periods of Argentina´s history: 1930-43. Given the
worldwide theoretical tradition and the economy’s unpreparedness to face the
great depression, Prebisch manages to start questioning some of its principles,
if not in his vocabulary, but instead in practical policy alternatives to confront
the great difficulties implicated with the declining growth rate and an external disequilibrium of the country. The tasks and answers given to the various
governments he served under, do not easily fit in any sense to the portrait of an
«enlightened conservative» or a politically reactionary intellectual as it is accustomed to hear. | es_VE |
