dc.description.abstractLa Asociación Venezolana para el Avance de la Ciencia (AsoVAC) en los sesenta años de funcionamiento ha cumplido un importante papel en el proceso de institucionalización y profesionalización de la ciencia académica en el país. La AsoVAC ha impulsado instituciones como la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, el Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas, (IVIC) el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas (CONICIT), entre otros. En este artículo se vuelve sobre los años iniciales de la AsoVAC, sobre sus enseñanzas, logros y las amenazas que se ciernen sobre la ciencia en Venezuela.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1The Venezuelan Association for the Advancement of Science (AsoVAC) in the sixty years of operation has played an important role in the process of institutionalization and professionalization of academic science in the country. The AsoVAC has prompted institutions such as the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICIT), among others. This article retraces the early years of AsoVAC on their teaching, achievements and threats on science in Venezuela.es_VE
