dc.description.abstractSiguiendo una metodología etnohistórica, este artículo trata el problema de la territorialidad del pueblo timote, desde la llegada de los españoles hasta el presente, estableciendo un vínculo por medio de documentos escritos y orales, se analizan los manuscritos coloniales desde la perspectiva del vencido y no del vencedor como lo hace la historia oficial. Además, el testimonio oral se trata con la misma fidelidad que el dato escrito no subordinándolo a este último. También el autor hace un breve análisis de la cosmovisión timote y como ésta se ha reestructurado en el devenir histórico, para finalmente y a manera de conclusiones, examinar la situación del territorio timote a partir de la nueva realidad jurídica indígena.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1Following an ethno-historical methodology, this paper seeks to address the problem of Timote people territoriality since the arrival of the Spaniards to the present, establishing a link through written and oral documents. The colonial manuscripts are analyzed since the vanquished perspective, but not since the victorious perspective as it has been done by official history. Moreover, the oral testimony is analyzed with the same accuracy as the written testimony, without subordinating it to the last one. Also, the author briefly analyzes the Timote’s worldview and how it has been restructured through the historical evolution. Finally, it is examined the Timote’s territory since a new indigenous legal reality.es_VE
