dc.description.abstractEl polen recolectado por las abejas se conoce como polen apícola o polen corbicular. Se revisan algunos aspectos del polen apícola, desde la adherencia al cuerpo de la abeja hasta su recolección por el apicultor, su composición, beneficios nutricionales, principios activos, usos en medicina, así como su toxicidad. En relación a sus aplicaciones terapéuticas, se discuten aspectos de prevención de diversas patologías como el cáncer y su efecto sobre el sistema inmune, así como sus propiedades nutricionales.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1Pollen collected by honeybees is known as bee pollen or corbicular pollen. Several aspects of bee pollen are reviewed, from the adherence properties to the bee´s body to the harvest by the beekeeper. Some aspects of the bee pollen are described such as composition, nutritional benefits, active principles, medicinal uses, as well as toxicity. In relation to its therapeutical applications, relevant aspects in preventing various pathologies, i.e. cancer, and its beneficial effects on the immune response and nutritional properties, are discussed.es_VE
