| es_VE |

dc.description.abstract1 | Five dogs were surgically intervened, each having four enterotomies at the yeyunum level, each enterotomy stitched with either vicryl, catgut, polypropylene and silk 3-0 caliber, with cushing invaginating suture pattern. On day 10 postsurgery, samples from the suture line were collected by mean of a second surgical procedure, with a total of 20 samples collected from 5 dogs. Each intestinal suture line produced a fragment 2 centimeters long at the suture level from which the suture material was removed in order to test the tensil strength of healed wounds. Studies en tensile strength did no reveal significant differences among suture materials although it was noted that tensile strength was greater for wounds sutured with catgut followed by silk, vicryl and polypropylene. | es_VE |
